Apprenticeships - Chillingworth Training Institute

Apprenticeships

As an apprentice, you will combine full or part-time work with training. It's a paid position, so you earn as you learn.

So, you’re thinking about becoming an apprentice?

You can begin an apprenticeship while you are still at school, just out of school, or later in life.

You will enter into a training contract with your employer and receive formal and on-the-job training to learn your trade or occupation. Once you have completed your apprenticeship you will get a nationally recognised qualification. Apprenticeships are available in a wide range of industries.

The Australian Apprenticeship Support Network is the nationwide advisory service for apprentices and trainees. Your first step is to contact an Apprenticeship Network provider in your area. They will tell you everything you need to know about entering into a training contract.

Different Approach to Apprenticeship Training

We have consulted widely with employers, manufacturers and other industry experts to find out which areas of the more traditional approaches to apprenticeships are not living up to their expectations, and what we can do to improve the outcomes for all stakeholders.

The main areas we have focused our efforts on are outlined below. We believe that these features help to make CTI’s apprenticeship training program more relevant, up-to-date and comprehensive than any other college is able to offer. The strategies we have developed to deliver high-quality training and carry out rigorous assessment events are designed to turn out professional tradespeople who you will be proud to have to work for your customers.

Become your own workplace supervisor!

We will train the supervisor with the necessary trainer and assessor skill set to allow them to deliver on-the-job training during the normal course of the apprentice’s on-site work. They will also be fully supported by our support staff with technical assistance, mentoring sessions and professional development courses.
